Day Trips and Great Food from the Swiss Pantry and New Market BBQ

It's that time of the year when folks are getting out and exploring the surrounding area here in North Alabama / Southern Tennessee.  We have SO MANY great options just right here in our back yard for exploring.  You'll find a North Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association Brochure Rack here at New Market BBQ for you to peruse and find fun and exciting things to do with your family. Be sure to check it out and feel free to take extra brochures to share.  Make it fun and explore the area together with your kids, friends and family and help keep our local economy strong by spending your vacation dollars local.

One of the really fun day trips you can venture out to do involves some really great food from some friends of ours up in Belvidere TN at the Swiss Pantry.  This great family owned bakery and bulk food store is located only about 20-25 minutes north of us here at New Market BBQ at 10026 David Crockett Pkwy, Belvidere, Tennessee 37306.

The first and third Saturdays of every Month they prepare their made from scratch donuts.  They are just DIVINE!  My personal favorite is the Maple Glazed Donuts.  It's only twice a month thing, so don't miss out!!  Here is a photo I took of my first dozen of Maple Donuts I purchased. They were so good y'all!  Matter of fact, one of our customers stopped in and picked up some money from us and purchased them and dropped them off on their way back thru. It was really sweet of them to do that and we all really enjoyed them! They also bake all kinds of other goodies including some gluten free options. They are also a bulk food store, so there are many things to choose from including some pretty unique spices, rubs, and all kinds of goodies.  Be sure to tell Charlotte and Enos Miller we said HI!!  Ok, so after you finish perusing thru Swiss Pantry and picking up your donuts and other yummy goodies, head on over to Falls Mill located at 134 Falls Mill Rd, Belvidere, TN 37306

Falls Mill is a water-powered operating grain mill and museum located in Belvidere, Tennessee just minutes from the Swiss Pantry.  This is just a beautiful setting, NEAT operation to tour, and a great addition to any day trip for our area.  They operate a tour while they are actually working their business grinding and preparing some fantastic corn meal, pancake mix and other yummy goodies you can pickup while you're visiting.  After the tour of the mill, walk down the big hill behind the Mill and experience mother nature's beauty and air conditioning. LOL! The water fall out back is just breath taking.  Per their website, the azaleas are in full bloom by the wheel.  Should be good until May 7th and a great time to photograph, come in the afternoon for best light.

They also operate a B&B on site, so keep this cute quaint place in mind for a short get away as well.  Once again, we know the owners here so be sure to tell John and Jane Lovett we said HI!! If you get up that way, bring us back some brochures, cause we're all out! We love to help spread the word about our local business', so the brochures don't usually last long.  Ok, so after you've had a fun time hiking the area, maybe you've now worked off those donuts you ate and can make your way back to see us here at New Market BBQ.
